Rush Limbaugh, Medal of Freedom Laureate and father of modern talk radio style, died today. He was the bedrock anchor for the Excellence in Broadcast (EIB) group which earned him hundreds of millions over several decades. Credited with reshaping the Republican Party via the Tea Party and again by supporting Donald J. Trump when nobody else would, Limbaugh was a maverick unequalled.
When he moved to Florida from New York, he recalled more than once on his show, that New York tax authorities hounded him, using cell phone location data and other harassment techniques to determine whether he was actually in Florida long enough each year to be a resident there instead of New York. The difference is the amount of taxes he would have to pay.
Limbaugh became a mentor to Mark Levin who has built his own radio show and podast audience to over 55 million. Levin lamented the death of Rush Limbaugh in a three hour long eulogy tonight (2/17/21).
