While Covid scamdemic is a political excuse to seize freedom from USA citizens and unconstitutionally order businesses shut down, the global spy store is thriving despite the shut down.
Academics call the spy store business “surveillance capitalism” and the warehouse supply chain is you, your cell phone, your personal computer, your camera, your audio recordings; and, all that you do with them.
JK Editor has simplified the eight-syllable phrase (surveillance capitalism) down to two-syllables: “spy store” and you are the product on the shelf.
The spy store concept has advanced well beyond Orwell’s 1984 plot where Big Brother (the Government) spies on everyone using cameras, even inside ones own home.
Today we call that a web cam, Amazon’s Echo featuring Alexa’s sound spy and other similar technology that we pay for to be spied on.
Big Brother can access your data with or without a warrant or subpoena. Welcome to corruption.
Spy store technology goes another leap, using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict what we want, what we’re thinking about buying, before we actually start looking on the web for a particular product.
Anti-Spy Technology
To avoid the amount of personal data and information you spew into cyberspace, consider using the following anti-spy technology:
- Use a truly private web browser like Tor browser, or at least a “private window” in your chosen browser.
- Use a truly private search engine like DuckDuckGo.
- Use a truly private virtual private network like ProtonMail’s VPN. You may need to sign up for a free account before the free VPN option is shown.
- Actually read the Privacy and Terms of Service agreements before you sign up for any service online. Be prepared to reject those if you disagree with data sharing policies.
- Put opaque tape or paper over the web camera lens on your PC and cell phone.
- Use a password manager, even a built-in browser password memory, to avoid using the same password on every online account.
- Sign up for a Credit Karma account to monitor your credit bureau reports quarterly to help discover if your critical financial data has been compromised. Consider putting a freeze on your credit reports to avoid unlawful access to your data. Search Clark.com for more information on credit bureau options.
- Put a password on your cell phone to block prying eyes at work! People are naturally curious opportunists. Even friends.
All eight services have free options available; and, some offer upgrades for a reasonable fee.
