Personal Flight Real but Very Dangerous – Real Jet Packs Coming of Age

Personal flight jetpacks were apparently first envisioned in the 1930s to 1960s, modern re-inventions of the Greek mythological flight of Daedalus and his son Icarus.

Now, single-man jet pack flight is real, and sometimes single man flights are reported by jet pilots nearing their pathways. Note: You may need to log into your facebook account to see the video.

In Greek mythology,* Daedalus created a set of wings for himself and his son, Icarus, to escape their imprisonment by King Minos.

The wings resembled modern gliders; but, were made of feathers glued together with wax.

Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, which would cause the wax to melt, nor flying too low, ruining the wings with seawater.

Together they escaped King Minos’ tower imprisonment; but, Icarus rose too close to the sun, the wax melted, and he crashed into the ocean.
