COMMENTARY: Central Kentucky Got It’s Face On
Wild Derby Parties are Legendary
Wildcat Country Wild Horse Party Country?
Lexington, Ky. 5/05/24 AFTER THE PARTIES REPORT
If you thought wild parties ended with the legendary late Anita Madden’s defunct annual Bluegrass Boy’s Ranch fund-raiser event, you have another think coming.
Kentucky Derby parties thrive in the Bluegrass State and range in size from one person having popcorn and beer in front of a streaming race, to hundreds of people having scores of different menu items – from full meals to snacks and drinks, like the iconic Mint Julep.
Probably as many people, or more, prefer milder drinks like soft drinks or beer compared to Mint Juleps and other drinks hard liquor.
Thousands enjoyed the derby at their fav local sports bars and drank moderately or true-blue “sots” arranged for a sober driver experience.
